Abstract

The Collaborative Group of Library and Information Science Professionals in Upper Secondary Schools (SBF) has for years worked on various joint initiatives concerning the interests of school libraries at the upper secondary level. One aspect of this collaboration was to carry out a service survey on school libraries in upper secondary schools. The survey was prompted by the fact that library services in upper secondary schools have been in decline, with the staffing ratios of library and information science professionals decreasing. It was therefore considered urgent to examine and map the services that students in upper secondary schools receive at their school libraries. According to Act No. 92/2008 , provision must be made for a school library or for students to be guaranteed access to the services of such a library by other means. It is worth noting that school libraries are addressed in the external evaluation criteria for upper secondary schools, and the results of the survey were submitted to those working on the revision of these criteria.
